Aldevinco Shopping Center

The ALDEVINCO Shopping Center is located between two of Davao City’s busiest thoroughfares, conveniently nestled at the junction of Claro M. Recto and Manuel Roxas Avenues.

In 1963, Conrado Alcantara and his wife, Ladislawa, took one look at an 8,370 square meter property along Claveria Avenue (now Claro M. Recto Avenue) and decided that it was the perfect place for a commercial complex.

Davao City then had just entered a time of progress in construction and even in business.

The Alcantaras invited the Manila based group of Architect Roman Solitaria to build the first shopping center in Davao City, the ALDEVINCO Shopping Center or simply known as ALDEVINCO. On January 2, 1965, ALDEVINCO was blessed and inaugurated.

ALDEVINCO has made a niche for itself. It has become nationally known as the place to go to for antiques and ethnic products. The ALDEVNCO could proudly claim that it is the only shopping center in Mindanao that truly showcases the culture and heritage of the Mindanaoan.

After 42 years, ALDEVINCO has become a landmark of the City’s poblacion. The premiere shopping destination in Mindanao where tourists and locals alike go for souvenirs such as Davao native products, various Batik products (bags, dusters, slippers, table cloths, etc.), textiles imported from Indonesia and Malaysia, antique and brass items, and even indigenous musical instruments. It has become a major tourist attraction for its wide variety of ethnic products.

ALDEVINCO currently houses over 100 shops, most of which are operated by the second generation descendants of the original tenants. A typical shop is only approximately 10-12 sqm.

ALDEVINCO is often visited by tourists, balikbayans and even by delegates from various conventions held in Davao City. Most merchants and their “tinderas” speak the Tagalog dialect and price haggling or “tawad” is welcome especially when you buy in bulk or when you are the “buena-mano” (first buyer of the day).

  City Triangle

Located diagonally across the ALDEVINCO SHOPPING CENTER, the CITY TRIANGLE is a new compact food retail center which house food shops, business centers and a recreation establishment. It also houses the biggest computer shop in Davao City. Its main attraction is the large center space for common dining which is easily convertible to an entertainment house for festive activities and concerts, product launchings, trade fairs and exhibit.
